The Star Inn at Harome

Andrew Pern purchased The Star Inn at Harome at the tender age of 25. Born in Whitby, he attended Catering College in Scarborough, gaining experience working in France along the way. He fashioned The Star into one of the first ever ‘Gastropubs’ winning awards virtually on a monthly basis for his cooking, including a Michelin star, Triple Catey Award and being voted UK No. 1 Gastropub three times. The Star Inn at Harome (Opened June 1996) This Michelin-starred Restaurant-with-Rooms is set around a C14th thatched inn in a rural village location. Accommodation is available in the Restaurant’s shooting lodge-style boutique hotel, currently offering thirteen rooms. The Star Inn The City (Opened October 2013) An ‘All Day Dining’ Brasserie-style Restaurant with an unmatched riverside location alongside York’s historic Lendal Bridge, it offers an All Day Menu and is a popular celebration destination for family birthdays, anniversaries and graduation dinners. York Minster Refectory (Opened 2023) With the backdrop of the former Minster School, York Minster Refectory has probably the most enviable position in Yorkshire’s county town. It offers all day refreshments and modern British dishes using local produce and suppliers from in and around Yorkshire with menus overseen by Andrew.
