George Greenaway is the founder and licensee of The Tamworth Tap, home of Tamworth Brewing Co. Since establishing the brewery in 2017, he has built a pub centred on well-kept cask ale, independent breweries and the conversations that happen over a pint.

The Tamworth Tap was named CAMRA National Pub of the Year in 2022, 2023 and 2025, and won Best Pub for Beer at the Great British Pub Awards in 2024 and 2026, culminating in the Great British Pub Awards National Pub of the Year 2026. Its cask range has grown to 12 handpulls, giving customers plenty of reasons to explore different breweries and styles.

George has campaigned at national level for a fairer deal for pubs and behind the bar, he has developed the Tap’s “Grain to Glass” training programme, covering beer styles, ingredients, cellar standards and service. He brings to the panel the perspective of a brewer, publican and campaigner who sees great cask ale as a shared effort between producers, pubs and drinkers.
