Manchester

This MA Leaders Club event was held in Manchester on 10 May 2022.

The agenda included...

Northern Powerhouse – Manchester is booming from a hospitality perspective and leading the way when it comes to creativity and innovation in bars, pubs and restaurants. We hear from Mr Manchester himself, Thom Hetherington, organiser of the Northern Restaurant and Bar Show, on what is happening in the city and what’s driving that creativity and change.

Generation Game – Cask beer has been around for generations, but is in danger of losing relevance in the modern market. We speak to three generations of brewers to get their thoughts on the category and how we can revitalise a key product for pubs. Chaired by brewer, campaigner and broadcaster Jaega Wise, we’ll be hearing different generational views from Michael Lees Jones, head brewer at JW Lees, Emma Gilleland, director of brewing at Carlsberg Marston’s Brewing Company, and Paul Jones, founder of Cloudwater.

Price Pinch Points - With costs escalating and hospitality struggling to stay ahead of the curve, Lumina Intelligence will present data from a newly launched service, which tracks the prices of menus across the hospitality sector. Holly Franklin from Lumina will give an overview of key trends and what the service will offer.

Making Manchester - We hear from one of the leading players in the Manchester hospitality scene, the guys behind the barnstorming Albert’s Schoss and the more recent Ramona and the Firehouse. Dan Mullen, owner of What We Want and marketing director Andy Windsor will highlight some of their current projects, will talk about how they’ve played a key role in regenerating the city’s bar scene, and some of their plans for the future to drive further innovation across Manchester.
